Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I don’t know anything about diamonds?

See www.gia.edu. They have a very informative tutorial on “The Four C’s of Diamond Buying.”

This is a great overview on diamond buying but do not worry, I will answer any and all questions that you may have on diamonds, diamond buying, diamond certificates, as well as different diamond laboratories and how they affect the price of the stone.

2. Are your diamonds conflict-free?

I have a close relationship with my diamond dealers and they buy directly from the mines and then cut the stones. They are a family company and know everyone in the process. They have assured me that their diamonds are conflict-free.

3. How long does it take to make an engagement ring?

Depending on design and stone, a solitaire ring can be made in a day or two depending on style and availability. It is possible to make an engagement ring in two weeks although I would prefer at least 3 weeks to insure quality standards.

4. What if I don’t know the exact ring size?

No worries, there are ways around this. Sometimes it is better to make the ring larger so that it goes on the finger during the proposal. I am happy to resize the ring once you have proposed…this is a free service for you.

5. Do you appraise your rings?

I do recommend getting your ring appraised and insured. I do not personally appraise my rings since this would be a conflict of interest but I have an independent appraiser that is a Graduate Gemologist certified by the Geological institute of America. Her appraisals are very detailed and include photographs of the ring as well as a plotting of your center stone.

6. Do you work with out-of-state clients?

Yes I do! Since most of my preliminary work can be done over the phone or through email, it is possible to work with clients all over the country.

7. Do you make jewelry besides engagement rings?

Yes I do! I will make just about anything from cuff links, wedding jewelry, earrings, bracelets and even candle holders…just see my portfolio!
